CTM made the first 5G call in Macau on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

Following the 5G network test last year, CTM, a subsidiary of CITIC Telecom International Holdings, continued to deepen the application of 5G technology. During the celebration ceremony of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”, CTM demonstrated a variety of 5G application and telecom technology including 5G high speed real-time video call, 5G real-time media broadcast and Wi-Fi 6 technology.

During the occasion, CTM made the first 5G call in Macau when introducing the new technology applications to Mr.Raimundo  Arrais do Rosário, Secretary for Transport and Public Works and Ms. Lau Wai Ming, Director of CTT, with 5G handsets and deployment of 5G Base station, marking a new era of 5G evolution.

Moreover, riding on the 5G set up on site, CTM demonstrated high-speed, high-definition and low-latency real-time media broadcast, and also the Wi-Fi 6 technology with a theoretical connection speeds up to 9.6 Gbps.

According to CTM, the Company is striving to bring 5G for commercial use in 2020, which is in pace with the neighboring regions, and drawing in the collective wisdoms of different sectors in the society to introduce more 5G smart applications and services that meet the needs of the Macau community.
