CTM in collaboration with Baidu has established the “City Digital Economy (Macau) Innovation Center” (“the Innovation Center”) at the CTM Original Store, showcasing the latest AI application scenarios. Additionally, CTM cooperated with Baidu and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (“CPTTM”), will work together to provide the first recognised AI training course in Macau approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, aiming to cultivate AI industry talents for Macau.

The inauguration ceremony of the Innovation Center was held on the 26th Feb at the CTM Original Store. Official guests included Mr. Yang Quanzhou, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Central Liaison Office, Ms. Lau Wai Ming, Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), Ms. Victoria Kuan, Director-General of CPTTM, Ms. Ho Sio Kam, Vice President of the Macau Chinese Education Association, Legislative Council members Ms. Song Pek Kei, Mr. Leong Hong Sai, Ms. Wong Kit Cheng , Mr. Ma Io Fong, Mr. Wu Chou Kit, Mr. Cheung Kin Chung, Mr. Wu Junhua, Vice President of Baidu Smart Cloud China, Mr. Zhang Yong, Managing Director of YonYou Software Macau Ltd and Vandy Poon, CEO of CTM.

Ms Ebel Cham, Vice President, Commercial of CTM said in the speech that, 2024 marked the inaugural year for CTM to promote AI development. CTM has implemented Baidu’s AI platform in Macau and developed various smart application solutions tailored to local needs, integrating AI with self-developed big data. CTM collaborated with Macao Government Tourism Office and launched the AI Macau Smart Customer Service application, marking the first step in the application development ride on AI by CTM.

She mentioned that AI technology and applications are rapidly evolving, sweeping across the globe. CTM will continue to invest resources to actively promote the application and popularization of AI in Macau, applying it to smart transformation solutions for various industries. To deepen local youth’s understanding of AI, CTM will jointly hold an AI application competition with Baidu this year, providing AI platforms and training to allow local youth to experience the latest AI applications firsthand and encourage them to engage more actively with AI technology and applications, nurturing more AI talents in Macau.

The launch ceremony of the “CTM Baidu Hong Kong-Macau Joint Cloud Plan,” was held at the same time, establishing CTM as the sole joint partner of Baidu Smart Cloud in Macau, which aims to provide the first recognised AI training course in Macau approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for CPTTM and local enterprises. CTM also signed a MoU with YongYou Software to support local business applications riding on CTM’s AI platform, aiming to create more smart transformation solutions that integrate AI technology for various sectors in Macau.

After the opening ceremony, CTM, Baidu and CPTTM have jointly held a seminar to share the views of development trends and application brought by AI, the guest speakers including Mr. Eric Ng, Director of Digital Innovation of CTM, Mr. Shi Wei, General Manager of Baidu Smart Cloud for the Hong Kong-Macau region, Ms. Zhang Li, Senior Architect of Baidu Smart Cloud’s large model training and Mr. Lam Tou, Senior Manager of CPTTM.

CTM will continue to strengthen local AI capabilities, deepen AI application development, further to collaborate with various sectors to promote the development of a “Digital Macau” smart city.
