CTM hosted the “Launching Ceremony of Digital Macau Collaboration Intention” and “5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition Award Ceremony”
Determine to promote the development of a smart city, CTM has been upholding the vision to build a “Digital Macau” through active investment and continuous refinement of network infrastructure. CTM joins hands with various community stakeholders as “Digital Macau Collaboration Partner” to create collective wisdom in accelerating the smart city development of Macau and hosted a “5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition” with the objective to enrich the local intelligent ecosystem.
Today (05 Feb), CTM hosted the “Launching Ceremony of Digital Macau Collaboration Intention” and “5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition Award Ceremony”.
The “Launching Ceremony of Digital Macau Collaboration Intention” was jointly officiated by Li Wei, Deputy Division Chief of Economics Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ip Chong Wa, Member of the Administrative Committee of CTT; Legislator Mak Soi Kun; Legislator Wong Kit Cheng; Shuen Ka Hung, Director-General of CPTTM; Prof. XU Cheng-Zhong, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau; Chan Hong, Vice Principal of Hou Kong Middle School; Chan Ka Leong, Chairman of UGAMM; Paulina Che, Assistant Vice President of Convention & Exhibition of Sands China; Wong Kam Man, Deputy General Manager of Macau Pass; Vandy Poon, Chief Executive Officer of CTM; Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial of CTM; and Declan Leong, Vice President of Network Services of CTM.
Cham said at the speech that in addition to cutting edge network infrastructure, diversified smart livelihood applications serve the same significance for the realization of a smart city. Along with completion of first phase 5G network construction last year, with the teams’ concerted efforts, CTM aims at achieving 5G full coverage across Macau by June this year. To further stimulate smart city development, CTM is honored to reach collaboration with University of Macau, Hou Kong Middle School, UGAMM, Sands China and Macau Pass, as “Digital Macau Collaboration Partner”, creating smart city scenarios across fields of autonomous driving, e-education, smart elderly care, smart convention and e-payment, to echo with the policies of the MSAR government. CTM is confident that the capability and profound experience will exert as an essential force of the MSAR government in building Macau into a smart city.
Autonomous Driving System and Application Collaboration Agreement
As early as 2019, CTM and the University of Macau signed the “5G Mobile Communication Technology Cooperation Agreement”, and set up a 5G trial network for the “Smart City IoT State Key Laboratory” at the University of Macau, to facilitate 5G-based communications technology research.
During the occasion, CTM and the University of Macau signed an “Autonomous Driving System and Application Cooperation Agreement”, both parties will study the use of 5G leveraging the characteristic of high-speed, low-latency, and massive connections that will further stimulate the revolutionary development for autonomous driving and the Internet of Vehicles to establish in Macau.
Under the witness of guests of honor, Eunice Cheang, Vice President of Strategic Programs of CTM and Prof. Shaodan Ma, Assistant Director of State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macau) co-signed the Autonomous Driving System and Application Collaboration Agreement, signifying the deeper collaboration between both parties on promoting application development riding on 5G and IoT technology.
“5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition Award Ceremony”
CTM organized the “5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition Award Ceremony” , providing a platform for local talents to explore and introduce smart applications catering to local livelihood, working and education needs. Since the launch of competition, positive responses were received from the public and more than 100 proposals have been received covering various fields, reflecting the anticipation of the community for 5G. A total of 9 proposals from the Concept Group and 4 proposals from the Implementation Groups were shortlisted during the initial round of selection.
The judging of the shortlisted entries of “5G‧Smart Solutions Design Competition” was conducted on the same day, with results as follow:
Implementation Group: “`5G Smart Application Award” winners: (2 projects)
Elderly Home Care robot; Aircraft Inspection robot, were awarded MOP 80,000 cash and a trophy.
Implementation Group: “5G Smart Application Potential Award” winners: (2 projects)
5G Adaptive Inspection robot; 5G Green Building.
Concept Group: “5G Smart Concept Award” winners: (3 projects)
5G Smart Lamp pole; 5G Drone Cargo; 5G Guide Dogs, were awarded f MOP10,000 cash and a trophy.
Concept Group : “5G Smart Concept Merit Award” winners: (6 projects)
5G Private Car Parking; Smart Delivery robot; 5G Smart Campus platform; Municipal waste management; 3D virtual interaction; Smart Road Management.
Later, during the “5G‧Smart Solutions Competition Award Ceremony”, Li Wei, Deputy Division Chief of Economics Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ip Chong Wa, Member of the Administrative Committee of CTT; Shuen Ka Hung, Director-General of CPTTM, CTM CEO Vandy Poon, presented trophies and cash prizes to the winners. CTM will hold further discussion with the winning teams to explore possible business cooperation models on launching the smart solutions that could meet the development needs of Macau.
CTM stated that the company will, as always, actively echoes with the policies of MSAR government, joins hands with all stakeholders push forward the “Digital Macau” development.
