Local online media Orange News interviewed 10 well known celebrities in the financial sector to talk about HK’s economic development from their perspective, as a special feature to celebrate the 20th year anniversary of HK’s reunification with China. Dr. Tiger Lin, CEO of CITIC Telecom International also took the interview on behalf of the Company.

Dr. Lin talked about his career, which has been closely connected with telecommunications and internet. He also said that CITIC Telecom’s diversified business is transforming the Group’s positioning:

In the past we helped mainland companies to connect to the world. And then we helped overseas companies to enter the mainland china market. Now we help China enterprises to expand to the world, offering communications services to them overseas.

Looking forward, Dr. Lin said the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan will bring enormous development opportunities to Hong Kong. The Group will also ride on these opportunities to grow its business.

Talking about IoT and 5G, Dr. Lin said,

it’s just like car racing. Every new technology will bring us a ‘corner’ which players can overtake others. The ranking won’t change a lot in straight lines, but it may be totally different after the corner.
